How We Work With Businesses

The Same Approach, A Different Set Of Constraints

Commercial work is assessed the same way as domestic work. We look at the existing installation before deciding what can be connected to it, we quote the whole job rather than the easy part, and we certify everything on completion.

What changes is the context. A commercial site is usually carrying more load and more of it matters, so taking a circuit out has consequences beyond inconvenience. Work often has to fit around a business that cannot simply stop, and whoever signs the invoice is rarely the person standing next to the board.

So we are specific about what is involved, what has to be isolated and for how long, before anyone commits. If something needs to happen outside normal hours and we cannot do it, we will say so at the enquiry rather than after you have planned around us.

What We Cover

Commercial Electrical Work

Workplace EV Charging

Charge points for staff and company vehicles, from a single unit to a small scale installation with groundworks, with the site assessed before anything is quoted.

Offices & Small Premises

Power, lighting and data for offices, studios and small commercial units, including additional circuits and distribution board work.

Light Industrial

Installation work at light industrial premises, carried out by our own electricians and certified on completion. Smaller projects rather than large contracts.

Second Sites & Expansions

Electrical work when a business takes on another unit or site, planned around the existing installation rather than around it.

We are a small team, so our commercial work is smaller projects rather than large contracts, and we do not take on inspection and testing or out of hours work. If you are not sure whether something suits us, ask. We would rather tell you plainly that a job is not for us than take it on badly.

Workplace EV Charging

Charge Points For Staff And Company Vehicles

A workplace charge point is assessed the same way as a domestic one, but the existing installation on a commercial site is usually carrying more, so what is already there matters more. A charge point needs its own correctly protected circuit, and where the existing board cannot provide that, the answer is a separate consumer unit rather than working around it.

The Workplace Charging Scheme is open to businesses and is worth up to £500 per socket. It is a separate scheme from the domestic chargepoint grant, and it is worth asking about before you accept a quote rather than after the work is done.

We have installed under the scheme, so this is not theory. If you are weighing up a first charge point for a member of staff, or provision for more than one vehicle, we will assess the site and recommend something that suits it.

Common Questions

Commercial Electrical Work, Answered

Do you work for businesses as well as homeowners?

Yes, at a small scale. Future Flow Electrical has been a limited company since 2017, with experience across domestic, commercial and light industrial work. Most of what we do is domestic, and our commercial work sits at the smaller end rather than large contracts, which is worth knowing before you enquire.

Can you install EV charge points for staff?

Yes, and we have. The charge point needs its own correctly protected circuit, which on a commercial site often means a separate consumer unit rather than working around the existing board. We assess the site before quoting.

Is there grant funding for workplace charge points?

The Workplace Charging Scheme is open to businesses and is worth up to £500 per socket. It is separate from the domestic chargepoint grant. We have installed under the scheme before, so we can talk you through how it applies to your site.

Can you work outside business hours?

No. We work Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. We do not currently have the team to cover evening, weekend or out of hours work, and we would rather say so now than agree to it and let you down. If the work genuinely cannot happen during the working day, we are not the right firm for it.

Do you provide certification?

Yes. Every installation is tested, inspected and certified on completion, and you get the paperwork. As NICEIC Approved Contractors our work is carried out to recognised standards.

Do you carry out EICRs or periodic inspection?

No. Inspection and testing is not a service we focus on, commercial or domestic. Our work is planned installation. If a condition report is what you need, another local firm will serve you better and we will say so rather than taking it on.

What areas do you cover for commercial work?

Salisbury, Wiltshire and Hampshire, from our base in Downton. For larger projects we cover a wider area again, so it is worth asking.
