The EV chargepoint grant is currently limited to people who rent their home, own a flat, are residential landlords, or are installing an approved cross-pavement solution where there is only on-street parking. Homeowners living in a house with a private driveway have not been eligible since 2022. If you do qualify, the grant must be claimed through an authorised installer and deducted from the invoice, as it cannot be claimed back afterwards. Grant rules change, so we will confirm the current position when we quote.

Sometimes. A charge point needs its own correctly protected circuit, so if your existing board is full, older, or does not provide suitable protection, it will need upgrading or a separate enclosure adding. We check this during the assessment and include it in your quote if it is required, rather than raising it once work has started.

Only if your property has a three phase supply, which the large majority of homes do not. On a standard single phase supply, 7kW is the practical maximum and is more than enough to charge most vehicles fully overnight. If you do have three phase, or are considering it as part of a wider project, we can advise on whether faster charging is worth the investment.

As a rough guide, a 7kW home charger adds somewhere in the region of 25 to 30 miles of range per hour, so most drivers plug in overnight and start each day full. Charging from a standard three pin socket is roughly three times slower and is not designed for regular use, which is why a dedicated charge point is worth fitting properly.

Possibly. Running a cable across a public footpath is not safe or permitted, but approved cross-pavement solutions exist and some councils operate schemes for them. This depends entirely on your local authority, so get in touch and we will talk through whether it is realistic for your property.
