Local Electricians Covering Romsey And The Test Valley
Romsey sits a short drive east of our base in Downton, which makes it one of the areas we work in most regularly. Whether you are in the middle of town, out towards Ampfield and Braishfield, or on one of the newer developments on the edge of the town, we are close enough to look at your project properly rather than quoting blind over the phone.
Romsey has an unusually wide mix of housing for a town its size. There are Georgian and Victorian properties around the Abbey and the town centre, substantial period homes in the surrounding villages, and large modern estates at Abbotswood and Whitenap. Each of those brings a different set of electrical considerations, and the right approach for a 2020 build is rarely the right approach for a house that has been added to over two centuries.
We are a family-run team, NICEIC Approved Contractors and MCS Certified Installers, and we have been working across this part of Hampshire and Wiltshire for more than twenty years. Every job is carried out by our own electricians, protected, tested, certified and tidied up properly before we leave.
What We Provide
Electrical Services We Provide In Romsey
Everything below is carried out by our own team. If you are not sure which of these you need, tell us the problem and we will tell you honestly what the job actually involves.
Electrical Installations
Bespoke electrical work for renovations, extensions and new builds, from additional sockets and lighting through to complete installations planned around how you use the property. Common on Romsey renovation projects where the original layout no longer suits modern living.

House Rewiring
Full and partial rewires for older Romsey properties where the existing installation has reached the end of its life. We plan the work in stages where possible to keep disruption down, protect floors and finishes throughout, and certify everything on completion.
Learn more
EV Charger Installation
Home charge point installation, from a straightforward wall mounted unit to a longer armoured run out to a detached garage. We check your supply and consumer unit first, and design the installation so solar can be added later if it is not part of the project now.
Learn more
Solar Panel Installation
MCS certified solar PV designed around your roof, your orientation and how your household actually uses electricity. Backed by insurance-backed guarantees, and specified to work alongside battery storage and EV charging rather than in isolation.
Learn more
Solar Battery Storage
Battery storage installations, upgrades and home backup systems, so more of the electricity you generate during the day is still available in the evening. We also repair and upgrade existing inverters where a system is underperforming.

Outdoor Lighting & Power
Garden lighting, power to outbuildings, and lighting and data for home offices and garden studios. Installed to the right external standards so it survives a Hampshire winter rather than needing replacing in three years.
Learn moreEV Charger Installation In Romsey
Romsey has a high proportion of households running an electric or hybrid vehicle, and a lot of the homes here have the off-street parking that makes home charging straightforward. A dedicated 7kW charge point adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range an hour, so for most drivers it means plugging in overnight and starting every day full.
The properties here throw up two recurring challenges. On the newer estates at Abbotswood and Whitenap, the consumer unit is usually modern and the job is clean, but parking is often away from the house, which means a considered cable route rather than a unit bolted to the nearest wall. On the older properties nearer the centre, the board frequently needs attention before a charge point can be added safely, and it is better to know that at the quotation stage than halfway through the installation.
We check the incoming supply, the earthing arrangement and the consumer unit before we quote, and we tell you if something needs upgrading. If you already have solar panels, or expect to add them, we will specify a charger that can use surplus generation so you are charging from your own roof rather than the grid.
Solar PV And Battery Storage In Romsey
As MCS Certified Installers we design and fit complete solar and battery systems, and our work is covered by insurance-backed guarantees. A well designed system generates a meaningful proportion of a household's annual electricity, and adding battery storage means the generation from the middle of the day is still there when everyone gets home in the evening.
Roof orientation and shading matter more than panel count, which is why we assess the property rather than working from an online calculator. Many Romsey homes have the roof space for a system that comfortably covers daytime use, and a number of the period properties in and around the town centre sit within conservation areas, so panel placement and visibility need thinking about from the start.
We also take on work that other installers often will not, including inverter repairs and upgrades, battery only installations for households that already have panels, and home backup systems for properties where a power cut is more than an inconvenience.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you cover Romsey?
Yes. Romsey is around fourteen miles from our base in Downton and is one of the areas we work in regularly, along with the surrounding Test Valley villages.
Are you NICEIC approved?
Yes. Future Flow Electrical are NICEIC Approved Contractors and MCS Certified Installers. Both can be confirmed through the NICEIC contractor search.
Do you charge for a quote?
No. All our quotes are free, bespoke and come with no obligation. We would rather spend the time understanding the project properly than send a generic figure that changes later.
How long does a rewire take in a property like mine?
It depends on the size of the property, whether it is a full or partial rewire and whether you are living there during the work. We confirm the timescale in your quote, and where possible we plan the work in stages so you are not without power for long. If you work from home, tell us at the assessment stage and we will plan around it.
Can you install an EV charger and solar panels at the same time?
Yes, and it is often the most sensible way to do it. Installing them together means one set of works, one supply assessment and a system designed to work as a whole. If you only want the charger now, we will still specify it so solar can be added later without redoing the installation.
Do you do emergency call outs?
We work Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, and we focus on planned installation work rather than out of hours call outs. For anything urgent and unsafe, contact your network operator or an emergency electrician.
How do I get in touch?
The quickest way is the enquiry form on this site, or WhatsApp. You can also email or call us during working hours.
