Local Electricians
Your Local Electricians, Two Miles Away In Downton
Redlynch is our immediate neighbour. Our base in Downton is a little over two miles away, and the parish, taking in Morgan’s Vale, Woodfalls and Lover, is about as local as our work gets. We know the roads, the properties and in a good many cases the people.
The parish sits on the western edge of the New Forest, and that position shapes the work in two ways. Properties are spread out, often with land and outbuildings, so supplies tend to run further than they would in a town. And being at the end of rural distribution means power cuts are a more familiar inconvenience here than they are in Salisbury.
We are NICEIC Approved Contractors and MCS Certified Installers, family-run since 2011. For most of the parish we are the nearest approved contractor there is, which makes the visits, the follow ups and the aftercare straightforward.
What We Provide
Electrical Services We Provide In Redlynch
All carried out by our own team. We are two miles away, so if you are not sure what you need we can come and look before anyone commits to anything.
Solar Battery Storage
Battery storage, inverter repairs and upgrades, battery only installations for homes that already have panels, and home backup systems that keep essential circuits running when the supply goes down.
Learn more
Solar Panel Installation
MCS certified solar PV designed around your roof, orientation and shading, backed by insurance-backed guarantees. Properties around the parish often have unshaded roofs and room for a system that genuinely covers a household.
Learn more
EV Charger Installation
Home charge point installation, including the longer armoured runs that spread out rural properties need. We assess the supply and walk the route before quoting rather than after starting.
Learn more
Electrical Installations
Consumer unit upgrades, additional circuits, and power, lighting and data for home offices, annexes and outbuilding conversions.

House Rewiring
Full and partial rewires for older properties across Redlynch, Woodfalls and Morgan’s Vale, staged where possible so the house stays usable throughout.

Outdoor Lighting & Power
Power and lighting to garages, workshops, stables and garden buildings, plus driveway and garden lighting specified to cope with an exposed rural winter.
Learn moreBattery Storage And Home Backup
Battery storage does two separate jobs, and it is worth deciding which one you actually want before sizing anything. The first is making your own solar generation useful: solar produces most in the middle of the day, which is exactly when many households are out, and without storage the bulk of it is exported for a modest return.
The second is backup. A properly configured system can keep essential circuits running through a power cut, which matters more at the end of a rural network than it does in town. Backup is not automatic, though. It needs to be designed in, and it needs you to be specific about what essential means: a freezer, a boiler, lighting and a router is a very different system to running the whole house.
We will size around your actual consumption and your actual priorities, and we will tell you where the return does not justify the spend. We also take on work some installers avoid, including inverter repairs, upgrades and adding batteries to existing arrays.
Solar, Storage And EV Charging As One System
Panels, a battery and a charge point installed by three different contractors at three different times usually work, but they rarely work together as well as they should. Designed as one system, surplus generation charges the battery, the battery covers the evening, and the car charges from your own roof rather than the grid wherever there is enough left to do it.
That is the arrangement worth aiming for, and the useful thing is that you do not have to buy it all at once. What matters is that whatever goes in first is specified so the rest can follow without redoing it. A charge point that cannot use surplus solar is the most common and most avoidable mistake.
As MCS Certified Installers we handle the solar and storage side ourselves, so there is one team and one design rather than three contractors each solving their own part of the problem.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you cover Redlynch?
Yes. We are based in Downton, a little over two miles away, which makes Redlynch, Morgan’s Vale, Woodfalls and Lover about as local to us as work gets.
Will a battery keep my house running in a power cut?
Only if it is designed to. Backup has to be configured deliberately, and it normally covers selected essential circuits rather than the whole property. Tell us what you want to stay on and we will size the system around that. A standard solar battery without backup configured will shut down with the grid.
Can you add a battery to solar panels I already have?
Usually yes. It depends on the inverter you have and how the existing system was installed, so we review the setup first. Adding storage to an existing array is one of the more common jobs we do, and it is often the single biggest improvement available to a household already generating.
My inverter has failed. Do I need a whole new system?
Very often not. Inverter repairs and replacements are work we take on, and it is usually far cheaper than replacing an array that is otherwise performing. Some installers will not quote for it, which is why people assume the whole system has to go.
Is solar worth it if the roof is partly shaded?
Sometimes, with the right design. Shading affects some system layouts far more than others, and the honest answer depends on what is causing it and when. We assess the shading properly and will tell you if the return does not justify the spend rather than selling you a system that will disappoint.
Do you do emergency call outs?
We work Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, and we focus on planned installation work rather than out of hours call outs. For anything urgent and unsafe, contact your network operator or an emergency electrician.
How do I get in touch?
The enquiry form on this site is quickest, or WhatsApp. You can also email or call us during working hours.
