Local Electricians Covering Ringwood And The New Forest
Ringwood is a straight run south from our base in Downton, which puts it comfortably inside the area we cover for all of our work. We know the roads, we know the housing, and we can get to a property to look at a job properly rather than pricing it from a description.
The housing around Ringwood is more varied than most towns of its size. There are period cottages and converted farm buildings on the forest edge, substantial post-war and 1970s family homes through Poulner and Hightown, newer development around Moortown, and a good number of rural properties with outbuildings, stables, workshops and detached garages sitting well away from the main house. That last group is where a lot of our work happens, because anything involving a cable run across a property needs planning rather than improvising.
We are a family-run team, NICEIC Approved Contractors and MCS Certified Installers, with over twenty years of experience across Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset. Every job is carried out by our own electricians, protected, tested, certified and left tidy.
What We Provide
Electrical Services We Provide In Ringwood
All of the below is handled in house by our own team. Tell us what you are trying to achieve and we will tell you honestly what it involves.
Outdoor Lighting & Power
Power and lighting to outbuildings, garages, workshops, stables and garden studios, plus external lighting for driveways, gardens and entertaining areas. Properly specified armoured runs and correctly rated external fittings, installed to last outdoors rather than to look right on day one.

EV Charger Installation
Home charge point installation, including the longer and more involved runs that rural properties tend to need. We assess the supply and the route before quoting, and design the installation so solar integration is possible now or later.
Learn more
Solar Battery Storage
Battery storage, inverter upgrades and home backup systems. Particularly relevant around Ringwood, where properties further out can be more exposed to power cuts and a backup system turns an outage into an inconvenience rather than a problem.
Learn more
Solar Panel Installation
MCS certified solar PV designed around your roof, your shading and your actual electricity use. Backed by insurance-backed guarantees and specified to work with battery storage and EV charging as one system.
Learn more
House Rewiring
Full and partial rewires for older Ringwood and New Forest properties, including houses that have been extended or altered over the years and now carry a patchwork of installations from different decades. Staged where possible to limit disruption.

Electrical Installations
Bespoke electrical work for renovations, extensions, annexes and barn conversions, including consumer unit upgrades, lighting design and home office power and data.
Learn moreEV Charger Installation In Ringwood
Ringwood is well suited to home EV charging. Most properties here have off-street parking, and the driving patterns around the forest and along the A31 mean the majority of charging can happen overnight at home rather than at public chargers. A 7kW charge point adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range an hour, which for most households means plugging in in the evening and never thinking about it again.
The complication around here is distance. Parking is often nowhere near the consumer unit, and plenty of properties want the charger on a detached garage, a barn or a parking area across a yard. That means armoured cable, a properly considered route, and in many cases groundworks and making good afterwards. It is entirely doable, and it costs more than a charger bolted to the wall behind the fuse board, so we would rather show you the difference up front than surprise you later.
We check the incoming supply, the earthing arrangement and the consumer unit before quoting. On rural properties the supply is not always what you would expect, and finding that at the assessment stage rather than on installation day is the difference between a smooth job and a difficult one.
Solar PV, Battery Storage And Home Backup In Ringwood
As MCS Certified Installers we design and fit complete solar and battery systems, covered by insurance-backed guarantees. Around Ringwood there are three reasons homeowners usually get in touch: rising electricity costs, wanting to be greener, and wanting the house to keep running when the power goes off.
That third one matters more here than it does in town. Properties on the edge of the forest and out towards the smaller villages can be more exposed to outages, and for anyone working from home, running a business from an outbuilding or relying on a borehole pump, a power cut is not a minor inconvenience. A home backup system keeps essential circuits running from your battery until the supply returns.
We also take on work a lot of installers avoid. If you already have solar that is underperforming, we repair and upgrade inverters and can add battery storage to an existing array rather than insisting on a whole new system. Some properties in this area sit within the New Forest National Park or are listed, so panel placement and visibility need considering early. We will tell you where that is likely to be a factor at the assessment stage.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you cover Ringwood?
Yes. Ringwood is around thirteen miles from our base in Downton, straight down the A338, and we work there regularly along with the surrounding villages.
Can you run power out to an outbuilding or stable block?
Yes, this is a common job for us. We assess the distance, the load you need and the route, then install a correctly sized armoured supply with the right protection at both ends, and make good afterwards. It is worth telling us at the assessment stage what you might want to add in future, because sizing the supply generously now is far cheaper than digging it up again later.
My property is in the New Forest National Park. Does that affect solar?
It can. Properties within the National Park, and listed buildings anywhere, may have restrictions on where panels can be placed and how visible they are. We will flag this at the assessment stage and design around it where possible, but you should check the position with your local planning authority before committing.
Can you install a home backup system so we keep power during an outage?
Yes. A home backup system works alongside battery storage to keep selected essential circuits running when the grid supply fails. We specify which circuits are covered, so you know exactly what will and will not stay on. It is a popular option for properties further out where outages are more likely.
Can you add a battery to solar panels I already have?
In most cases, yes. We assess the existing system and inverter, confirm what it can support and advise on whether a battery can be added directly or whether an inverter upgrade makes more sense. We also repair and upgrade underperforming systems.
Do you do emergency call outs?
We work Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, and we focus on planned installation work rather than out of hours call outs. For anything urgent and unsafe, contact your network operator or an emergency electrician.
How do I get in touch?
The enquiry form on this site is quickest, or WhatsApp. You can also email or call us during working hours.
